just finding this thread...I leave for Italy on Sept. 10 and begin walking in La Verna on the 14th and will finish in Assisi...I have started going through Ed and Joan's Blog (which is awesome) I am looking for recommendations on accommodations, trying not to stay in hotels to keep the cost...- Bill Krueger
