Camino Frances - Sept 14
Hi guys,
I fly into Biarritz from Ireland on 8th Sept.. This will be my first camino experience, starting from SJPP along Camino Frances route.. I need to be making my way back to Irl for 19th Sept so I have about 10 days walk.... I dont want to make too much of a plan for how much ground i'll cover as I want to just enjoy the experience and go with the flow, without being worried about making it to a destination with an airport by a specified time....
Not sure what to do..... What airports are most accessible along Camino Frances path ? should I book return journey now, given that I have a limited time to walk or wait and see where I end up.... Is there good bus service along this route in case I need to make it to airport from where ever I may be..
I have heard that Madrid has good access from anywhere along the route ??.. Any advice welcome... xx

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
There are airports at Pamplona, Burgos, and Leon. Good bus service parallels the Camino Frances, so you can move ahead or go backward to reach the nearest airport. It probably is not necessary to book a flight back yet.

Buen camino.

10 days from SJPdP should put you in Santo Domingo or Belorado.

Autobuses Jiminez offers bus service to most villages on the route between Logrono and Burgos.

The closest well served airports are Madrid and Bilbao. There is frequent bus and train service from Burgos.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
As Whariwharangi says, Madrid and possibly Bilbao are the best bets. The smaller airports like Pamplona or Burgos would not have direct flights on budget carriers so you'd be likely to spend hundreds of euros. If you book now from Madrid you should get a flight to Dublin for under 100 euros.

I'm doing pretty much what you are doing. Starting in St Jean. I hope to finish in Burgos as I have a little longer than you.
So you have two options.
You can get a direct bus from Belorado to Bilbao and get a Aer Lingus flight back to Dublin or
Get a bus to Burgos and train it up to Bilbao.

You can also fly home from Madrid with Ryanair if you wish. There is lots of info in the posts above
