December 21, 2011

This year, with more than 180,000 pilgrims , is the second busiest on the Camino de Santiago , after the Holy Year 2010, for the first time precisely without being Xacobeo.
Not surprisingly 2011 will be remembered as the greatest influx of foreigners , even surpassing last year's figures, 84,318 against 83,978. And the last 13 days of December, still need to be accounted according to official data published by the Archbishop of Santiago, La Voz de Galicia.
If the input stream of pilgrims in the Galician capital remains these days, ending the year with almost 182,000 . 180,828 so far are those who have already made the the last 100 kilometers of the Camino on foot or horseback, or those who complete 200 by bicycle.
This will exceed the results of the second best year so far, the Xacobeo 2004 , when 179,944 pilgrims arrived in Santiago, half a percentage point below the 180,828 recorded at the time in 2011.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
