A song for walking...

Time of past OR future Camino
Summer 2020
For several days now I've had the tune of "The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond" inexplicably running through my head. It is a good tune to walk to.

So, today I gave it "Camino Words." The beginning and end are the same only the middle phrase changes for each verse (Yes, some require a little bit of rhythmic flexibility....)

--+++--
Onward and upward and downard and inward
Walking the way to Santiago...

Enduring pain
Shedding tears
Uncovering hopes and
Conquering fears

...All the way, on the way to Santiago.

Clicking poles and thumping sticks protecting knees and saving hips...

With new voices to be heard midst the trees and through the birds...

Cows and cuckoos, hounds and snails sharing roads and sharing trails...

All the churches of the dead closed to pilgrims as they tread...(*)

As the body and the soul seek an end that's not the goal...

--++--

Grace and peace,
Tim

(*) Note: sorry if this seems a bit overly critical, but on the entire Primitivo route between Oviedo and Melide, only one single church - one - has been open. As a pastor I TOTALLY "get" it; as a pilgrim, it makes me sad. I'm referencing how many of the chapels are now cemeteries.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Tim, when will you post the video of you singing it? Buen Camino , Aymarah

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Sorry to hear your journey is proving challenging Tim.

it will defiantly inspire you.
Thanks for the song. It has been a painful and difficult journey, but I am glad to have been on it!! Despite it all, the only real disappointment was all the closed churches (which, as I said - from a professional standpoint - I understand.)

God willing, tomorrow I will arrive in (a wet and chilly) Santiago. Tonight we sprung for a double room and laundry!

I may be a bit biased, from Liverpool, but i sing you never walk alone, gets me through the tough times
