Accommodation outside Arzua - any ideas?

Hello all

I'm going to be taking some of my community (and my daughter - hence the buggy) to walk the camino from Sarria. As we are a largish group (and with 3 year-old) we won't be staying in hostels. If anyone has any information on non-hostel accommodation in the 10km or so after Arzua, I'll be very grateful to hear of it.

Many thanks and buen camino

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
In 2002 and 2005, I stayed at the Hostal Suiza (http://www.hsuiza.com), about 2-3 km out of Arzua, on the carretera. As you get to the top of the hill walking from Arzua, you can see it on your right, through the trees, and across the road. I think that the rooms were 25-30 for single, but might have gone up since then. The rooms were plain and very clean, and the restaurant quite fine. It allowed for an early start the next day.

The CSJ guide books gives the following:

3km from Arzua: Salceda: Hotel - Meson Esquipa
3km to Empalme: Hotel - Restaurant de Pau

3.5km to A Rua: Hostal/Rst O'Pino tel: 981 511 148

Hope this helps

OOps!! You are quite right! I skipped the 8km to Calle - the guide says that accommodation might be available there and to ask Pilar.
Salceda is 3km after Calle.

I tried the O'Pino in December, after I had walked right into the night on a long walk from Melide. There were signs pointing to O'Pino and I made a long detour off the Camino to get there, but it was all closed up and with no lights on. Maybe it's open again now, but phone first as it's a long detour for nothing if it's closed up!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I can recommend the Hotel Suiza. Stayed there last week. Double room was 37 euros and it had a full bath, such a luxury after so long on the Camino.
It is on the main road out of Arzua and just off the Camino.Just after you cross the Rio Barrosas on leaving Arzua there is a small track leading from the Camino to the main road.It is about 200 metres from that junction. It is marked on the maps in John Brierleys guide. Alternatively follow the N547 out of Arzua.

Not outside Arzua, but inside the town, I can recommend two very good places to sleep and even to take dinner:

Hostal Carballeira, TFNO. 981-500094
Casa Teodora, TFNO. 981-500083

And finally, excuse my english

I have stayed at the Suiza and the Teodoro and can recommend both. The Suiza is quieter and has a very decent restaurant, but is about 20 minutes' walk beyond the pueblo.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
We stayed at the Pension Rua and can recommend it. We had a lovely view of a flock of sheep and a shepherdess out of our window.

We also ate at Casa Teodoro and it was a welcome change to the normal Menu del Dia.
