I will be walking El Notre in June/July 2015 and am looking for accommodations for the first evening in Pasaje de San Juan-Pasaia Donibane. I know there is an albergue there but I am seeking something like a small inn, guest house, or hotel there with a private bath. Preferably in one of those little communities on (or very near to) the Camino route. Does anyone have a recommendation?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hola and welcome to the forum

If you search googlemaps the map with the town will show lodging which may help you finding the best place for you.
You can also use street view and get a general idea about how to get there once you are on the Camino.
Hope this helps.

I remember wondering this when walking through this pleasant village. I once saw a reference to a pension, but did not take note of it and have not been able to find anything on the web. I would suggest either writing to the ayuntamiento at Pasajes@pasaia.net or just asking at one of the restaurants or café if they have rooms-- this is often the case in smaller centres and, while spartan, they are usually clean and comfortable.
