ALBERGUES Cizur Menor to Uterga

Looking for confirmation of open albergues (in April) between Cizur Menor and Uterga. Including Cizur Menor but not including Uterga (I know what is open in Uterga). I find the Malta donativo in Cizur Menor, correct? Then nothing until Uterga?

One of the many options I am considering (in April 2024) is beginning my walk from the airport in Pamplona, but after a long overseas flight and a puddle-jumper to Pamplona I would want to find a bed before Uterga.

In late Sept 2023 I did not find an open albergue after Cizur Menor until I came to Uterga. Per Wise Pilgrim (March 2023) the Albergue San Andrés in Zariquiegui was reported to have reopened, but when I arrived late Sept 2023 this was not the case. It was closed.

MARSKA,

You might simply stay at a place near the airport before you set off on your camino. Check the possibilitie shown on Google maps near/at Noain Pamplona airport. https://maps.app.goo.gl/qKCgHnLg1siT7Q389

Next day you could avoid Pamplona and the Alto de Perdon entirely.

From the Pamplona airport walk southeast to Tiebas to join the Camino Aragones and perhaps stay in the Tiebas albergue. (This is their Gronze page). Reservations are accepted.

The hub of the town is the bar/resto in the Centro Social de Tiebas, at # 34 Calle Mayor, tel +34 948 36 00 02

After Tiebas walk west on the CA paralleling route NA-601 to the splendid circular Romanesque church at Eunate where the albergue is now unfortunately closed and then 4km further to Puente la Reina/Gares to re-meet the Camino Frances.

Happy planning and Buen camino 2!

MARSKA,

PS,
I did a Tiebas walk around alone in January 2010 to avoid the climb/descent of the Alto de Perdon in icy conditions. Stayed then at the old Tiebas albergue and ate at the community center; the local caritas was outstanding.
...You can read my blog of those winter days in this earlier post.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi MSpath! I like the idea of avoiding Pamplona & ADP. Is the route from the airport area to Tiebas on the N 121 or is there an off-road path?

You need not follow the often busy N 121 but walk from the airport to Berian and then south on the quiet local roads to Tiebas. If you zoom in on the Google airport map which I linked in my post you will see these local roads.

Download the mapy.cz app. It is great for showing walking routes (including the Camino)

Here's a screenshot of the walking navigation between Beriáin and Tiebas

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
