Got out the door a bit late and began walking through an industrial area. I eventually got onto a dirt path, which had much needed shade trees 🌳 lining each side.
When I reached the community of Fenis I deviated off trail and walked to the first of three castles 🏰 I passed today.
As I continued southward in the valley I was forced off trail and onto asphalt due to repairs and maintenance work being done due the damages incurred by this seasons heavy rains in the area.
After about 7 hours I finally made it to the city of Chatillon.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I remember Chatillon well - staying with the Capuchins in a small room with three beds, and three occupants. I think too it was, at least in Italy, my first encounter with the totally combined all-in-one shower and 'Turkish' toilet. I have seem far less 'luxurious' arrangements in other continents. ;)

But again I say: a bed is a bed is a bed, and all you need in addition is one bar and one restaurant/shop.

I remember I did try the parish church first but didn't get an extravagantly welcoming reception. ;) I was meeting very few other pilgrims still at that stage and trying to phone ahead each day but I can somehow remember particularly having trouble trying to make phone calls before and after Chatillon, not because of the lack of a signal but because, er, it is Italy. [I LOVE Italy, and lived there for four years,]

Saint Peter's church here, on the hill is amazingly beautiful!
I have seen a lot here referencing the Capuccins and Capuccini's.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Yes I thought the church itself up on the hill was very fine. It was the priest there who sent me down to the Capuchins. They have a great tradition of (simple!) hospitality and there are few towns in Italy where they do not have a convento. Always worth a try....
These days are very scenic for you!

Châtillon is the linguist border French-Italian. Hope your Italian is good from now on all the way to Rome…some very nice places along the way including many monasteries, beaches, etc. Enjoy.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Jougne, the end of the last stage in France? Thanks. Karl
