Just a note asking if according to the note in CSJ pilgrim guide, stating that in order to receive aCompostela a pilgrim needs an "Authorised Credential" and can only be given by joining the CSJ. Is this true? I was under the impresion that one could be collected from main towns such as SJPDP.

Hi Begonia, No, you will be fine collecting your Credencial from St Jean when you get there. If you are a member of CSJ you can get theirs before you leave Adelaide, but otherwise just get one from the pilgrim office when you arrive in St Jean. Cheers, Janet. (PS coffee next week?)

Hi All,

I am planning to start a Camino at Pamplona where I will be arriving with a friend on 25th April.

The plan is to arrive by bus from Barcelona at about 21.30 and make our way to the Jesus Y Maria alberge. My question is this - will we be able to obtain credencial at the alberge? This is most important for me to get settled since we will be arriving in the dark in a strange city and we will be quite late on arrival. I would hate to end up not being able to stay there because of the lack of a pilgrim passport.

Many thanks for any help you can give me here.

Hi Tony,
You can get your credential from the Albergue de Jesús y María. They close at 22h00 so you'll have to hot-foot it to reach them from the bus station!
Here is a map of Pamplona. The bus station - marked with a red arrow in the centre of the picture - is in Calle Yanguas y Miranda close to the Citadelle. The Cathedral - also marked with a red arrow is in the left top grid of the map. The albergue is close to the cathedral.

many thanks Sillydoll.

I appreciate the information. We will be travelling from England to Barcelona and we will come to Pamplona by bus which leaves BARCA at 15.45 hrs. I believe that the bus takes about five hours to do the journey and if that is true we should be in Pamplona by 20.45.... but you are right. We will need to move quickly to the Jesus y Maria alberge. I think the walk is not difficult and is about 1km or a little more. Once we are on the trail, our lack of Spanish will be less of a problem I think. I have done part of the camino before at another time. I was just very worried about arriving at the alberge and not being able to stay there.

Thanks for your help. I am now less concerned.

Tony
