Bag Transfer on the Norte

Time of past OR future Camino
Let's just say I've been around ;-)
Don't hate me - but I am thinking I may want to do the bag transfer thing on the Norte. Or at least have the option if I run into some really hot long distance days. I think Correos offers daily transfers along the entire route. Has anyone doe this to confirm for me?

Hi @Elizabeth Cheung!

Why would we hate you? Bag transfer is a service that can be very handy for many reasons. On my Camino Frances, my husband had a heat stroke and I would not be able to carry two backpacks, so we sent his ahead for a few days while recovering

Correos indeed covers the Camino Del Norte. You can see the page here: https://www.elcaminoconcorreos.com/en/camino/camino-del-norte-the-northern-way

Choose "Transfer rucksack" and you will go to a page that allows you to book your stops. Buen Camino!

Hey Elizabeth Cheung when are you headed to the Norte? We leave from the US on June 6 and start from Irun on the 8th or 9th. Maybe I will get to see those Virgin of Guadalupe pants in person!

LOL! I am doing the Norte in September. I will be on the Wales Coast Path May - July. You can scope out all the alternative coastal routes for me as well as coffee stops

Correos on the del Norte was excellent. I would text them the night before with my arrangements and a Correos munchkin would collect the pack before 8 am and have it delivered without fail. I met a few of the couriers and they were helpful and friendly, one comradely saluting me with a cheerful ¡solidaridad! ¡compañero peregrino! Two of them had purple hair, which made me wonder if this be a statement of some sort.

I'll be starting the Norte in early June, no date set yet. I'll watch for your shadow along the way!

How much is per day transfer?

Hi Elizabeth, I've enjoyed your posts on the FB Camigas page! Have you by chance seen the blog of the lady who's been walking around the coast of Great Britain? She did the Wales Coast path a few years ago. I find it very entertaining and inspirational, thought you might be interested in it: www.coastalwalker.co.uk

Oh I will have to read that! I just finalized all my stages for the Wales Coast path so I can now concentrate on accomodations. I am not taking a tent and past experience in the UK walking has taught me that booking in advance is a must. I will probably post a fair bit of the Wales Walk on the FB page since a large portion of it coincides with the Northern Wales Pilgrims Way. Anyway, I should be good and ready for the Norte after this. (Or not!)

I just got an email response from them and yes, per day is 5 to 6 Euros but if you book 7 days at a time it goes down to 4 Euros a day.
Please, send me that contacf

Do you have to use the standard daily stages for Correos, or will they pick up if you stop at an intermediate albergue?

No you don't have to do "standard stages". When you book using their online booking form, there is a drop down menu off all the towns along the route where there are accomodations. So you can break it up however you want.
