Barcelona to SJPP

Time of past OR future Camino

I am visiting Barcelona with my daughter before I head to SJPP on April 30. I've read all of the older threads regarding transportation between the two and I plan to take the train from Barcelona Sants to Pamplona and then the Conda bus from Pamplona to SJPP. My question is: Should I buy the train and bus tickets now or later? I don't think I want to wait until the day of the journey and then run the risk that the train and/or bus is sold out.

The train ticket should not be a problem if you travel 2nd class, but why wait? The bus should not be an issue either if Conda is doing that route that day. What is your connection time between the train and bus/

I bought both train and bus tickets before I left home. Just make sure to print your boarding passes. When you get off the train in Pamplona go to the ticket office on your way out and ask what bus to catch to the bus station. It's right out front but I don't remember the number to take. I did not have any Spanish so it was a little tricky because the bus driver didn't speak any English so was pretty impatient with me. I relied on help from the younger generation to let me know where to get off. Once I reached the stop I just had to cross the street and go downstairs to wait for my bus. Again I relied on a young fellow to help me find where to wait for my bus but you will see other pilgrims start to gather. It's a beautiful bus ride to SJPP!
Buen Camino

We prebooked the train to Pamplona. Shared a taxi with some other pilgrims we met on the train to get to the bus station which is reasonably close. We then just bought our bus ticket at the bus station and arrived in SJPP late afternoon. So no problems. I would have prebooked my bus ticket if I could have but found their website wouldn't let me. That was early 2017.

Hello everyone. I stumbled upon this thread, now 3 years old.

Are the info in it still up to date? Which is the best / most economical way to get to Saint Jean from Barcelona?
