Camino Frances september-october 2015
I would like to thank a small group of young pilgrims who made my 48th birthday on 02 oct very special to me.I had juzt struggled with sore feet and knees up the hill outside Atapurta i reached the top part just as the sun was rising so decided to take a few minutes to enjoy it on my birthday.then a group of four young pilgrims came up.i explained it was my birthday and would they mind taking a photo for me which they did, then they asked my name and sang happy birthday to me.It was wonderful and very surreal moment been sang to at sunrise on a hill in spain on my birthday it really made not just my day but something i will remember for my lifetime..
Sorry i didnt get your names at the time but you know who you are and i bope i see you all again on the camino..thank you young people
An added bonus as they sang my name allan from down the hill came a shout "allan is that allan from yorkshire" .. it was my new friend Joyce from canada a great lady who old enough to be my mum helped and stayed with me a few days before when i was having a rough time,we then walked together into Burgos.
Thank you everyone

My name is spelt the same as yours Allan. In my case when my father registered my birth the registrar started to write it as Allen as soon as my father said Alan James, that's Alan with an A so he finished it off with ...an.

Happy belated birthday greetings Allan. Thank you for sharing this. It reminded me of being in a crowded albergue by the bridge in Zubiri in April this year. I was just outside the kitchen making a phone call back to the UK to wish my grandson a happy 21st birthday, suddenly my own greeting was drowned out by the massed ranks of young Brazilian & Spanisn pilgrims who had been busy cooking, together with one Canadian, and one Irish man all shouting out happy birthday to him. It made my day and he was over the moon, especially when I showed him the photographs of his international group of well-wishers, and of the meal they had prepared for free for everyone who was staying there (and some that weren't). A magical place the Camino!
