Is it possible to get to Bolibar near to the Monastery of Ziortza by train. We are flying to Bilbao and want to start a short while befroe Gernika and I'd like to see this monastery?

You ca take the train back to Deba, and from the parking lot of the train station take a bus to Markina and walk from there to Bolibar, then the monastery, and if you are tired then, after you make it down the hill, take a bus in Munitibar to Gernika. Munitibar has a decent bar on the plaza for lunch. My recomendation is to reserve in Gernika as it's a bottleneck and many were left looking for a bed.

No train. You can take a bus from Bilbao either to Ondarroa or Lekeitio and get off at Iruzubieta. Then walk up to Zenarruza passing thru Bolibar. Its a 3.8 km. walk.

Ondo Ibili !
Thank you so much for your quick reply . Its a help.

Why is it that some people seem obsesed about cutting 1, 5, 10 km , or minutes from their Camino, when the whole purpose of tue Camino is to walk, and to get from point a to point b? Maggie, you want to take the train, take it. You have time to take it and make it work in your olans, take it.
