Someone has to pay for electricity, water, gas and regular maintenance of the hostel for pilgrims. Bills amounting to 70,000 euros per year estimated by the City Council (which has taken over the bill since it opened just over three years) and 45,000 estimates the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago (the charge of the management the building). So the pilgrims will pay 5 euros for the stay (the maximum allowed charge with the rules of the Junta de Castilla y León), which will increase the turnover is around 28,000 Euros. This figure coincides with the average visitors to the hostel.
But from there to the 45,000 or 70,000 euros it costs to keep the property, the Association will have to sacrifice other expenses. And here, its president, Jesus Aguirre, said yesterday at the signing of the agreement that requires them to deal with the maintenance of the property, they will have to cut other expenses.
