Hello,
We are planning to start from Burgos (where we left off on 2014)....
Question:
How do we get from the train station to the camino trail?
Do we have tobook albergues ahead of time in all the albergues along the way?

I walked it from there when I walked the Camino Frances from Burgos new train station in 2011. It didn't take long to join the Camino. Exit the station. Turn left to the roundabout and then right and it's 1km to connect with the lesser favoured route into Burgos. So about a 20 minute walk along sidewalks all the way to connect to the Camino.
You can also taka a taxi or bus or walk to the center more directly by turning right upon exiting the station, though this will take longer to get on the actual Camino.

You don't HAVE TO book anything. It's entirely up to you.

There’s a regular bus to the centre from the slightly out of town train station if you prefer not to walk.

When are you planning to walk? Demand for accommodation is seasonal. Personally I’d book my first night (at the Norte y Londres habitually) then take it as it comes. Unless you’re in the April/May or September ‘peak seasons’ I wouldn’t be concerned.

I use Google Maps/Google Earth to walk the route virtually using street view mode.

When I get there, I already know where I am going with sense of Déjà vu.

Is there a new train station in Burgos ? Sorry was thinking of bus station, my bad.

2024 edition: The Brierley Camino Frances Guide
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
If you have a smartphone then I would type in walking directions to the cathedral and start from there.

I think it’ll be very warm but not overly crowded. Personally I walk in Spain from mid-September through to the week before Easter; but I’m fortunate enough to be retired and can choose my time.

I took the train from Madrid to Burgos Rosa de Lima train station rom Charmartin last month. Immediately outside is a bus stop. The number 23 (I think) takes you to Plaza de Espana (the Terminus) in Burgos centre. I think it took about 20 minutes and cost les than 2 euros. I think the bus runs every 10 minutes or so.

Burgos, like a lot of European cities, the original train station was conveniently located in the city center. Using an old map, I actually found the old abandon train station in Burgos.

High-speed rail requires all-new tracks and restricted access that is not appropriate for the city center. The new Burgos Rosa de Lima train station is located 2.9 outside the city requiring a short bus ride or a long walk. Sometimes high-speed comes at a price of convenience. The bus station is more conveniently located in the city, but travel time map be longer.

Use Google Maps/Earth to plot your route!

You can walk -- but there's a bus. Cheap and quick.

Only reason I know this is because I needed last year to travel back to my re-start point at Moratinos ...
