My mom will be joining me in Sarria at the end of the month to finish up the camino. She won't arrive in Madrid until 2:45 PM so she'll miss the 12:20 train. The only other train is a night train (trenhotel). I've been trying to find a bus with no success. Is the train the only way to go?

Try a bus route from Madrid to Montforte de Lemos and then a train to Sarria.

Buen Camino,

There is nothing direct from Madrid to Sarria. Trains and buses go through Montforte de Lemos or Lugo. Here is the bus schedule from Madrid to Lugo. From there take the bus to Sarria.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

If your mother does decide to take the overnight train, Trenhotel, I suggest that you splurge and stay across the street from the train station at the "Hotel Roma" easily meeting her train which arrives at 7 AM. Back to hotel for breakfast then start off walking!
