Time of past OR future Camino
(2019)
On day 6 in late September, we are walking from Herrerias to O'Cebreira for breakfast and then plan to take a bus to Sarria. Will it be easy to get a bus or taxi to Sarria and about how long will it take? we have figured it is 40 km.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi @HullCamino
If you’re likely to need to find out how to get from place to place ‘anywhere in the world, including your own local streets’. Load this onto your iPhone google it and it’s free. - rome2rio

Ps a bus does come up but it’s coming up as ‘Pedrafita do Cebreiro’ but seems to be same place .
Problem can still arise; unless you get timetables etc (which are often accessible on same app by drilling down )... the bus may not be a regular run.

So seems like taxi would be the definite in this case or find out the day before.

Good luck and Buen Camino
Annie

The busses that come up in Rome2Rio serve Pedrafita do Cebreiro proper. It is a small town, not directly on the Camino Frances, in the valley and at a distance of about 4 km from the village of O Cebreiro itself which is on a mountain top. There’s a lot of taxi traffic from and to O Cebreiro. The end of September may still be busy so it may be a good idea to book a little in advance.

Like in other parts of Galicia, a number of villages form a municipality as an administrative unit. Which is why O Cebreiro and other villages along the Camino Frances, such as Liñares and Fonfría, are all part of the municipality of Pedrafita do Cebreiro.

Walk on to Hospital and stay in Xunta albergue. There is a local bus that stops there at the bottom of the steps up to the albergue. It is at 7am if I remember correctly but you can check the time at the local bar. Had to take it a couple of years ago as I had hurt my ankle and needed to rest so my plan was to find a hotel in Triacastela. As I got on the bus the driver asked if I was going to Sarria and the temptation kicked in so Sarria it was. Got me in in time for the buffet breakfast in Alfonso IX. €10 for all you can eat for non residents. Stomach filled, it was a short walk round to A Pedra albergue and hostel. Always felt guilty about saying yes to that driver rather than stick to my original plan but it was the best breakfast I had on the camino

Hi
I would recommend to take a bus to Lugo and continue from there by bus or train to Sarria.
There is no direct bus from Cebreiro. You should walk to Piedrafita do Cebreiro which is about 1 km from Cebreiro. It is lower than Cebreiro but still on top of a pass. Should be easy to walk
This is on the A6, a main road with bus services.
An option would be to use an ALSA bus to Lugo and the to continue to Sarria by bus or train.

Piedrafitta do Cebreiro to Lugo ALSA Bus, Euro 5.54. Please ask, I traveled in 2013 with ALSA bus from Lugo to Burgos and I think the bus leaves the A6 and stops in the village.
As per current timetable: departure 12:40, 16:40, 19:25, It takes 50 minutes to Lugo

Lugo to Sarria:
Train: RENFE, about five trains a day, from 4 Euro, 24 minutes, September time table is not yet released
Bus: Lugo-Portomarin-Sarria, week days two services a day 13:00 and 19:30, Saturday 13:00,
Sundays and Festivos/Holydays 10:00, Bus company: Empresaportomarin (www. Empresaportomarin.com; under "servicio regular")

Enjoy your walk!

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Yes, I found that to be very confusing when trying to book ahead for the night,

There is a bus from O’ Cebreiro, I took it. Costs about 3 euros and totally worth it.
You are right but it doesn't appear on most websites and certainly not on Rome2rio! I finally found it (now that I don't need it anymore ☺). Here it is, on the website of the Xunta de Galicia for public transport in Galicia:

Enter Sarria and O Cebreiro into the search fields. Make sure to pick Cebreiro (PEDRAFITA DO CEBREIRO) from the long list of options. And there it is: a bus that serves the bus stops between O Cebreiro and Sarria. Though not every day it seems. Working days from Monday to Friday throughout the whole year. Two buses per day. The first one leaves O Cebreiro at 7:49 am and the second one at 10:09.
