Camino Ingles between Christmas and New Year

Time of past OR future Camino
Camino Frances, August 2016
Camino Portuguese, April 2017
Camino Ingles, May 2018
I am very tempted to do the Ingles, from ferrol, starting after after Christmas Day and arriving in Santiago for new year. My only concern is that there will be very few pilgrims for company. Has anyone walked the ingles at this time of year and how many pilgrims did they see prior to Santiago?

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hey David. I walked the Ingles the first week of Nov. last year and had a hard time finding Pilgrims and albergues open. I would venture to guess that there would be very few walkers during that week. You definitely need a phone and pretty good command of Spanish because you'll probably have to call someone to open a place for you to sleep. I didn't stay in private accommodations so I don't know what that availability is like. I assume you already know the weather can be all over the place too. I'm not trying to discourage you; actually, it sounds like a great adventure. Be prepared for a solitary journey. Buen Camino

Thanks frankieballz, your feedback is really helpful. Ok, I am going to consider options. Perhaps look at a segment of another Camino. The weather (I think) I can cope with, but I am not sure I am looking for solitary journey.

Even albergues that are open all year often close for the week between Christmas and New Year Day! Carefully research your planned itinerary. You may even want to make telephone calls to specifically ask about closings. It will be a very quiet and restful time of year on all the routes. In January, I met only 14 pilgrims in three weeks, about four of them in albergues. Buen camino.

Thanks falcon269. I’ve decided that I’ll do something in the spring, doing 2 weeks of ingles and on to muxia.
