      As others have suggested, I would recommend John Brierley's 'A pilgrim's guide to the Camino Ingles'. It often provided useful detours when road walking was likely to be aversive and was thorougly inspirational to boot! A wonderful guide.

      Yes, then you have time, price quality the decathlon poncho's are excellent. Yeah we enjoyed the Ingles, only a few too long asphalt stretches but that part of most Camino´s i guess, and it was over too soon..:) Enjoy and buen Camino!

      I assume you mean without pavement. In which case you’re correct, facing the traffic. Where safe to do so ! Sometimes on a blind curve there’s no room, so you have to swap over. Let your common sense prevail!

      There is no consensus on the Camino because pilgrims do whatever they want. The convention is to always walk facing oncoming traffic and not to jump until you can see the whites of the driver's eyes
