I was looking at the original thread on Clothes Line and thought I would add a few Clothes "lines" of my own.

1. What did the skirt say to the pair of trousers? Thanks for hanging with me today. You're kind a straight legged, but I like you.
2. What did the silk dress say about the skimpy shorts? These young "hangers on" are taking everything over. The horror!
3. Why do the t-shirts start acting crazy later in the day? They are really getting wired.
4. Why do wool socks dry faster than cotton? The wool socks are made from Smart Wool.

There, that starts the ball rolling. Let's see some more humor.

Oh well here goes!
This is defo a dad joke my dad told me over 50 years ago!
On the washing line hat says to the scarf "you hang around here i'll go on a head"
On the basis of this joke i expect to do a season in Las Vegas!

Not a clothes line but clothes....

We were so poor that our parents couldn't afford clothes. Imagine our excitement when one christmas we were bought a hat and scarf so we could look out of the window.

This isn't exactly a clothes line joke, but it is a clothes line story and this thread brought back a childhood memory for me.
My mother was very "anal" about how the washing was hung on our clothes line (a word I didn't know as a twelve year old). It was my job to hang out our clothes in the summer when school was out. Mom was very particular and made sure I adhered to her instructions. "Like" items had to be grouped together...my dad's white work dress shirts, Tshirts, boxers, tidy whities, long pants, etc....all by age as we were 5 kids ages 2-14. The additional rule was I was to use only one clothes pin holding the edges of two different garments together on each side, saving clothes pins. Our clothes line was practically a work of art when all was finished.

Everything you say resonates with my recollection of mom's clothes line protocols. A difference being sheets. After one windy day and our sheets took off thus needing another wash, I wasn't allowed to hang anything but my clothes.

Hi Chrissy!
I don't know if it's a generational thing.
When i was a kid around that age in the mid 60's my Mum would make me hang the washing in a very similar way!
Being the youngest it was my chore.
As a boy i hated it as my mates would take the mickey something rotten;but if i made a fuss i got a clump round the head!
Language is a funny thing in the US you call them clothes pins in the UK we call um clothes pegs!
Strange you didn't know what a clothes line was at age 12 ha!ha!.

Nooo! The word I didn't know was "anal", an often used word in my adulthood. Remarkably we do share the word "clothesline" with you UKer's.

Ha!ha! Chrissy me again.
Yeah Chrissy i got that the word you didn't know was "anal" ;but it's my stupid sense of humour! (the thought process in my head; can be a bit obscure sometimes)
That's why i put strange you didn't know what a clothes line was the winking emoji was a clue!
