Camino Finisterre (October 2018)
Hello.
So, first Camino for me, taking it at a wonderfully gentle pace, and has been such an incredible experience at only day 2!
Except...
Really, really, really saddened at the littering. Toilet paper, sanitary towel wrappers, plastic of all kinds.
Why?
Do we need Pilgrim Paper Pouches like we have dog poo bags?!
You carried it with you that far, it’s really not going to hurt to carry it to the next rubbish bin is it and I’m sure other pilgrims, locals and the land itself would appreciate it.

Half the pilgrims are Spanish. Five of the other eight "foreign" countries are not English-speaking, including the top two. You need to carry this campaign to forums in those languages! Everyone here agrees with you.

Thank you for the support.
Happy to find forums and post in relevant languages on my return home. I noticed a bowl of windfall fruit today free for pilgrims with a request to stop littering. I understand Camino Francés is even worse?

Yep. We carried a plastic sack with us every day and picked up. Litter was probably my biggest disappointment. Seems so obvious that one can carry out that which was carried in.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
It is an endless discussion here.
Some people are totally oblivious...and it bugs the heck out of the rest of us.
(@nycwalking...that sign...bwahahahahaha!!
Can someone please translate it and post it on the camino? Only partly kidding.)

And if you are free later this year, there IS something you can do, in addition to what @Tim Floyd and many of us do already: contact Reb and join or support the Ditch Pigs.

That's one of the main reasons I don't like the Frances. None of that on the Norte which is also more beautiful and less crowded

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
My absolute pet peeve on my camino this Sumner. But i have a feeling that the people who litter are not on this forum!

I passed that sign earlier today ... it's a good one .... I also passed overflowing bins at various spots which I suppose are emptied but the local councils or whatever they are called in Spain ....
I have seen some litter along the way but also notice that the 300 thousand mark was passed this week and it's obiously way more than that the amount of actual people that have been on the camino .... I think a tread about non litter spots is needed .... lol ... if a farmer drove 30 cattle down a bit of the camino there would be cow shite everywhere and they would make a mess but we'll over 300 thousand people have trod the camino this year to date and there still going .... in all fairness it's not looking too bad all things considered!
