Hy Marianne , its to bad that people do this , to make profit over peoples back so to say.Id didn't ruin your Camino so thats good . Buen Camino , Peter .There is a Ferreterias (Hardware Store) at Calle Lugo, 69 Arzua that is easily recognized for the copper stills for sale in the window. Easy to see also in google maps. We did purchase one for a gift .... however, the owner requried cash and we did not check out the the receipt copy to see that the name of the store was missing. So there is no way to "prove" the purchase and it was never received.
Lesson learned? Our Camino Glow may have assumed good will, but in this situation it would have been better to adopt some Camino Caution and taken the product with us to ship ourselves.
Did this ruin our Camino..........not at all! For some lessons there is a price to pay. If someone else can learn from our investment, all the better. Buen Camino! Marianne
How disappointing for you - both because you did not get what you paid for, and because you were ... in effect ... conned. When things like this happen to me I find I need to call upon my reserves of grace** to cope, but you seem to be doing that already as you say it has not ruined your Camino. I would love to sing the praises of this happening!I had a hospitalera mail a package home one camino. It took over two months to arrive. Don't despair yet!!
Our friend who is a native Spanish speaker called the two phone numbers we could find associated with this location and was told our transaction never took place.Have you contacted him to see if he did ship it or had problems with the shipping info you left?
This came up during our purchase and we were advised the US has no restrictions and that only France would not allow their importation.A still is for making spirits - think aguadente, whisky etc. It might have fallen foul of customs if keeping a private still is not allowed
Exactly! Our nephew is a chemical engineer and recently adopted home brewing as a hobby. We tasted such fantastic walnut and herbal liquors in Spain that a still seemed a perfect gift.A still is for making spirits - think aguadente, whisky etc. It might have fallen foul of customs if keeping a private still is not allowed
Yes we have the bill but our copy of the receipt shows no name or address. Perhaps as others suggested the package will come and if it does, I will be back on this thread in celebration!Do you got a ticket or a bill with you ?
Then tell your friend to phone this shop and i hope this person do not cuestión your Shopping!
So sorry about that!
Thank goodness. It has eliminated alcohol as a problem in the country.US Federal Law still prohibits the home distillation of spirit
Not a lawyer here. A still is also used is the production of perfumes....so maybe the equipment itself is not the issue. When we asked the gentleman if his product could be shipped to the US and California specifically, he said there were no problems. The only problem was with France.I think Custom's and Excise or its USA equivalent are or are likely to be at least part of the problem see this helpful(?) link: http://homedistiller.org/equip/buying. As I understand the situation US Federal Law still prohibits the home distillation of spirit notwithstanding the repeal of the Volstead Act. Similar restriction still imposes on our liberties in the UK.
All possibilities....but we walked out of the store into our Camino cloud with a receipt that recorded the transaction but NO name of the store, NO phone number, NO email address, and No tracing document for the mailing. We really own our share of this detour. It may not be the merchant. It might be someone in the post office, on either side of the ocean. Or even some light-fingered neighbor of your friend.
Possible to buy stills in France and even in the uk - although strictly forbidden here in uk to use it for making the evil alcohol. But if you want to make essential oils - fine! I agree with others though that it probably has been held up at either border by customs - perhaps if it contained info on making essential oil it may of got through...! Another time it might be worth having a declaration in the box saying that it is for decorative purposes only. A shame you may of of lost your memento - but maybe it will turn up...
Yes we have the bill but our copy of the receipt shows no name or address.
That's really pushing "mañana" to the limit!
