Advice on credit & debit cards: are cards required to have the embedded chips or will the magnetic strips still work along the Camino Frances?

You may discover that nothing works if you have not informed your bank and credit card companies that you will be traveling overseas. You can go to their websites or call their customer services numbers to give them your travel dates and countries. Part of fraud protection these days is to deny foreign transactions unless there has been notification!
