Hi
I am planning to start the walk at Roncevalles in exactly 7 days (3rd Sept). Should the numbers of pilgrims be less by then?. I have been reading this site avidly for several weeks now, and the thought of having to rush to get a bed does not appeal. Audrey

Hi Audrey! You shouldn't have to rush to get a bed at Roncesvalles. I think the Camino shouldn't be so crowded in September as everyone's summer holiday is over & done with. At least, I hope that's the case since I'll be picking up where I left off in May at Logrono on September 10!

Also, if you're on the Camino on Sept 12, please consider participating in the "Day in the Life of the Camino Frances" project.

Buen Camino!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Audrey! The "Day in the Life of the Camino Frances" is a little idea I had to get photos from the same day taken all along the Camino, perhaps at the same time, then compiled into a slideshow to post on YouTube to promote this forum. My suggestion is that those of us on the Camino (or travelling to or from) on Sept. 12 stop & take a picture of ourselves or our surroundings. I gave a suggested time of noon, since that's an easy time to remember when you're on the road, but really, any time would be fine. You might pass a very interesting town or site before then & it would be a shame to miss out on that photo! You can submit several photos if you like. If I get too many, I'll use the best ones. :)

I have a couple of other posts on this, probably under "September project." If you don't want a photo of yourself posted on the internet, you can submit photos of the sites or one of yourself walking the Camino with your face away from the camera.

I looked at the Brierley guide & it looks like you will be a day or so ahead of me if you are following his stages. I don't start walking from Logrono until Sept 11, so I'll be between Ventosa & Azofra on the 12th.

Hi, I've been staying in Santo Domingo as a tourist for the past couple of days. the big guesthouse has been full the past 2. the Camino is still busy but nothing like in high season. But you take what you can get. There's no guarentee. And the closer you get to Santiago now, the fewer there will be. In any event, I wish you a buen Camino :D
