Hi all,

Months of deliberation and working around constraints have finally led to me booking my flights to walk the Primitivo next April. My first walking day out of Oviedo will be Easter Sunday, the 21st. I had the impression that the Caminos are main cities within are busy in the week leading to Easter, but some posts on this forum seem to indicate that even the week following Easter attracts throngs of people. I was not planning to book beds in albergues other than in Oviedo, to allow for maximum flexibility. Do you suggest otherwise? Thank you, fellow pilgrims!

On the Primitivo? I wouldn't, apart of Oviedo obviously ;-) But I would pack warm clothes ;-)

Thanks a mill - will certainly do so! Ill also keep in mind Egeria house, in case I have the time when I get to Santiago!

I arrived in Oviedo on 18th August this year. It was holiday time and all the pensions and most of the hotels were full. However I had no trouble getting in to the municipal albergue

John, there are three of us who will be arriving in Oviedo on Easter Sunday and starting out Monday morning after visiting the Naranco churches outside of town. Maybe we can meet for a coffee

Booked at Casa Peregrina - many thanks for your help!

Hi there! Thanks for your kind offer - I will be setting off on Easter Sunday morning - so if you fancy a fairly early coffee, I'm game!

If walking one week to either side of Easter Sunday, book early and show up. If your plenas change before the reservation date, let them know by e-mail (use an online translator) that you will not be coming so they can give your room to another pilgrim.

Yup, what Sybil says is 100% correct. Book ahead for Oviedo, and maybe Lugo.

Also bring that extra warm layer...

Hi Tom, I got the impression from your first reply that I needn't book other than Oviedo, do you think I should then please?

Perhaps I misspoke... When travelling to either side of Easter Sunday, it is recommended that you make as many advance reservations are possible.

Certainly making reservation in the larger towns and cities where most of the families and celebrations are surrounding Easter is primary, But, as more folks will be on the Camino then, generally, it is a good idea to plan ahead.

Hope this clarifies.

Thank you! I ll look into booking for the larger towns and cities.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
