El Camino del Norte part I

In a month's time I will be walking again. Last walked the VdP in 2004. I am so very excited that, if I could, I would start tomorrow, even today, if I can. The only outstanding task (most daunting of it all) is the visum application.

One reason for delaying a second camino was I could never get enough leave to do the full camino. My mind kept on telling me that it had to be done in one stint. Gradually I had a mind shift and have decided to do the Camino Norte in more that one phase.

So, I will start in San Sebastian on 2/3 July 2011 and end in Santander.

Regards.

Nicholas. :D

Hi Nicholas, I will be behind you by about 2 weeks. I will be in Irun on the 16th of July. I will walk until the7th of August when I go to Madrid for a few days before flying home to Canada. I don't intend to walk every step and I don't even know where I will end my journey (not Santiago as I haeve been there twice now) So I might catch up with you along the Northern Way. Note my photo, if you see this silly old lady wearing this silly old hat, say hello!

Thanks for the intro. Will certainly be on the look out for you. Went to apply for my visum today and I will get it on 20 June. I am now getting very excited and cannot wait to start.

For now I need to concentrate to get my job done, as 99% of the Camino arrangements are done. The rest will only happen much closer to the time.

Elevation map shows this is really steep! What’s the best way from downtown Hondarribia up there? Then wish me luck on the Purgatorio—I am a nervous wreck.
My group of six arrives in Irun on May 20 and we're starting our Camino on May 21. Since it's the beginning of the busy season, I'm wondering if we should order trekking poles from Amazon Espana...
