Finisterre

We are on the Camino now and plan to go to Finisterre by bus after we get to Santiago. How much time should we allow for the bust trip and visit? Can we get the tickets online?

It depends on if you want to stay overnight, otherwise you should be able to get a bus in the morning from Santiago and a return in the evening. No need to book IMO. If you have time I would recommend a trip to Muxia as well, its beautiful and is the traditional Spanish ending for the Camino.

First Monbus (http://www.monbus.es/es/rutas-puntos-de-venta/465/viajar-fisterra-santiago-de-compostela/) on a weekday (laborables) morning is 09:00 from Santiago Bus Station, arrives Fisterra at 11:00. Last bus back to Santiago departs 19:00 arrives Santiago 22:00. That gives you 8 hours to walk to the lighthouse, burn your socks, take a photo by the 0km stone and eat some seafood in one of the restaurants. I agree with @wayfarer , no need to buy tickets in advance. Just go to the Monbus stand at least 10 minutes before departure.

There are 5 buses on weekdays from Santiago to Finisterre - the journey time ranges from 2hrs to 3 hours 15 mins.
3 buses return to Santiago in the afternoon. The bus operator is http://www.monbus.es/es/rutas-puntos-de-venta

A possible itinerary might be: 9am bus from Santiago (arriving at 11am) and returning back to Santiago on either the 4.45pm or the 7.00pm bus. No need to book tickets in advance - just turn up at the bus station (allow plenty of time to go upstairs to the ticket office).

The lighthouse in Finisterre is about 3 kms or so from the town centre, so you should probably allow a couple of hours for the walk and spending some time at the ocean.

There are also private minibus tours - you can get details of these in the tourist office.

We took a tour bus to Finisterre and Muxia and a few other places after our trek and I am really glad I saw Muxia at the same time. It was worth it.

Muxia is a great village, but it is hard to see Fisterra and Muxia in the same day on the bus. You need to go to Cee to transfer to the bus to Muxia. Have a great camino!

We bused to Cee, hiked from Cee, got in by 2 PM, and then spent the night. I'd recommend spending the night even if you go all by bus. We much preferred Fisterra to Santiago
