First Camino Walk

Hi All

I am venturing on my first Camino in late May 2010 and as yet haven't decided which route to take - I am torn between starting at Ferrol on the CI or at Valenca on the CP!!

It is my intention to take the walk at a nice easy pace, enjoy the scenery, the experience and hopefully the weather!!

Can anyone offer advice on the best route for me taking the weather and ease of finding a place to stay each evening into account? Also, is it better to pre-book somewhere to stay and at what intervals should these be?

Thanks in anticipation!!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Welcome to the forum, Mike,
May will be a great time of year. Weather will be warm and you will be before the summer crowds - although every Camino will no doubt be busy this year. I don't think you will have need to "book" places in an albergue. If you stay to the smaller towns you should be fine.
Buen Camino,

Hi Mike,

I have done both caminos.

My vote goes for the CP. Lovely country side, good albergues at regular intervals(+-20km), interesting cities to visit along the way and more peregrinos to share with.

No need for reservations anywhere if staying in commercial accommodations. Of course, no possibilities of reservations in public albergues.

The CI has its own merits but, in my opinion, doesn't compare with the CP for all the reasons mentionned above.

As for the weather, in both instances you're in Galicia, you can expect rain.

Cheers,
Jean-Marc
