first timer from California

My friend and I will waking the camino in about 2 weeks. I think we are pretty ready - reviewing packing lists and working on traveling light. One or two lists have mentioned that a skirt for women is advisable (re:visiting cathedrals etc.) but most don't mention it. We are wearing mid-calf pants. Does anyone have any input? No use taking it if it's not necessary.

While I saw some pilgrims with skirts, they aren't necessary. I wore capri-length exercise pants & was able to get into churches & cathedrals. I think the real problem would be if you were wearing shorts (men & women).

Lightweight convertible trail pants are a good option....just zip the legs on in case of a cathedral visit.

Hi ,
A month of wearing hiking pants can be a bit of a pain!!( you certainly don't need a skirt in the churches.) If your skirt is very light light you may want one for a change otherwise give it a miss.
