If you can only find a flight back from the Camino to the USA or Toronto which is too expensive, or you can´t get a ticket, because its full, then try it via
Milano Malpensa (MXP) / Italy.
Twice a week, there is a flight between Santiago de Compostela and Milano in 2 1/2 hours.
Every week from May to September there are many direct flights between Milano and New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto.
Prices in May, June and September are often less than 400-500 €, except in July and August it often cost up to 700 €.
If you need a flight, just have a look.
