frequency of trains daily between Sahagun and Ponferrada ?

Is anyone able to view the train schedule between these two points for me please?

I was recently looking at an old thread where @falcon269 mentioned clicking on the map against the train or bus icon to bring up the times. Doing this., it comes up with a note that the train runs only once a day...IC (inter city) flexible? ie leaves Sagahun at 13.56 and arrives Ponferrada at 16.14
It even says on Renfe site that train runs only once a day...but then lists this one below too... the Alvia one.

Rome2rio when drilling down I see another promo ALVIA (non flexible ?) which leaves Sahagun at 16.46 and arrives Ponferrada at 18,52

I was thinking of buying the ticket when I get to Sahagun...but I am wondering how I'll know whether there is actually a train running for the 16.46 mentioned? What is the difference in ALVIA and inter city?

I may have to get my skates on that day and make sure I get there by 13.56 (Coming from Camino Madrid... heading to Ponferrada to walk the Invierno.)

Any help would be great.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi, Annie,
I always use the German train official website for checking out timetables. It's here

https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml

It shows three weekday trains (weekends may be different) -- the two you mention, 13.56 and 16.46, plus one at 17.18 (but it's much longer, 4 hours, because it has a two hour layover in León).

Alvia is a fast train, inter city makes more stops. But on these short routes sometimes there is very little difference. The Alvia will probably be more comfortable.

People have had better luck buying tickets directly from Renfe recently, but you could also buy the ticket at any town along the way with a Renfe office.

Good luck with this, buen camino, Laurie

Hi Laurie @peregrina2000
Great little website... thanks, and also for the explanation of the train types. I wasn't going to book ahead as won't know how many days I'll take to get there...but thinking I'll be catching it on April 5. Sort of hoping to start the invierno on April6.
If I get a feel for definite date en route, I'll look for a train station and try to buy it ahead.

Getting awfully close to leaving.. 3.5 more sleeps.. I'm leaving home 3am so its only a half night sleep..lol.

Buen camino for your april departure.... you're getting a posse of pilgrims heading out with you..
Sounds like it will be very social. I think we will also have 5 leaving together on the madrid..
