From Porto to Astorga

Hy.

My Camino start in Astorga.

Anyone knows the best way by train to go from Porto to Astorga?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

You might have to get to Vigo and then go by bus to Leon and Astorga.

Hi Alpes

This looks like a tricky journey by train. Are you able to consider other options?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Sil's suggestion sounds good.

Personally I'd be getting a Ryanair flight from Porto to Madrid (3 flights a day at the moment) then a bus from there. Not environmentally friendly, I know. Ryanair is currently charging about 40 Euros plus baggage and other charges (so let's say 70), but early booking and the time of year is key. From Madrid airport you can get the bus to Astorga, which takes 5-6 hours.

That way you might have a chance of doing it in one day though, and avoid a night's accommodation cost. The train timetables seem to leave you somewhere you don't want to be in the middle of the night.

It will all depend upon your priorities of course. If you have a few days to spare you could make it a journey in itself and take in places like Salamanca on the way.

Buen Camino!
