Getting to Oveido from London

Hello

Help please. I am planning to do the Primitivo from Oveido. I was going to fly into Madrid and take the train from there but when I booked my ticket it was much cheaper to fly to London return (from Calgary in western canada). I will fly in to Gatwick in the middle of the afternoon and rather than try to do it all in one epic and exhausting go I expect I will take the train in to London stay in a hostel etc and then the next morning take the train out to Stansted where both Ryanair and Easyjet fly from. So far so good I think. But from there I don't know what will be the simplest way to get to Oveido.

Ryanair flies to Santander, Valladolid & Santiago

Easyjet flies to Bilbao or Asturgias

Can anyone suggest the simplest way to get to Ovido from Stansted?

Thanks

hi
Asturias is the airport for Oviedo. Bus from airport to centre of Oviedo as far as I remember is less than an hour.

Hi John,
Terry says that if you have to fly into Santander you can get either the bus or the train to Oviedo.

(I think these have the prices as well)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Sorry to bang on about boats, but have you considered taking the ferry from Portsmouth (not all that far from Gatwick, probably cheaper to stay in that London, quite interesting place ) to Bilbao (P&O) or Santander (Brittany ferries) and then getting a bus from there to Oveido? The times may not suit, but they might, and 24 hours on a ferry might be a good way to adjust to a pilgrimage pace.

Hello

thanks for the information and the suggestions including the ferry. I don't think I will be taking the ferry but do appreciate the suggestion. The ferry cost is a more than a flight and I am trying to keep my spending down and also I have been sea sick before and wouldn't want to start the Camino that way.

I think I will likely go into London, stay at a hostel and try to take in a play. I like theatre. And then get myself out to Stansted the next morning for a flight down to northern spain and a bus to Oveido. I will have to check the schedules of easyjet and ryanair closer to when I am going to figure out which works best for me.
