I fly to Bordeaux tomorrow to make my way to SJPP and will start walking on Saturday.
I have much enjoyed the interchanges on this forum and thank everyone for their contribution. The advice offered has been weighed and accepted or rejected and in the event I shall be proved right or wrong. Just so you know ...
I shall walk in leather, Goretex lined boots
I shall (airline permitting) carry a stick
My pack is 70 litres
Without food or water its packed weight is 12 kg (50% more than the 10% of bodyweight criterion)

There is nothing I am taking that I would be comfortable not carrying - my choice for my Camino!
Adios amigos,
Richard

Buen Camino Richard!
So enjoyed your post, it summed up things nicely. We all do it 'our' way, no rights or wrongs.
Bon voyage, Liz.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Bye Richard y Buen Camino.

I know the feeling of taking all the advice and being thankful for it but in the end having to make one's own decisions. My pack too seems to be overweight at 10 kilos including l litre of water but no food but I have to decide. Everything seems essential and yet I've even left out the deodorant! How low do I have to go...!! but all in the best interest of survival.

Ultreya,
Eleanor
