After walking so many miles, you realize how little one really NEEDS to have a contented life. So, during this holiday season, what are you giving your friends and family, without turning your back on the local economy and in keeping with the spirit of giving?

Hi Kathy -
I have a policy to give consumables to family and friends. This year I'm giving Spanish wines to family (from our local bottle shop) and beautiful Haigh's chocolates to friends ... the Aussies on the Forum all know about Haigh's ! They're THE best !

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
This year I thru-hiked the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, an 1,100-mile trail in Wisconsin (U.S.) that traces the edge of the last glaciation. The trail is half completed -- you hike on roads in between the developed trail segments -- so I'm making donations to the Ice Age Trail Alliance (trail developer) in some people's names for Christmas. I love the Spanish wine idea, and will have to check out Haigh's chocolates!

Cheers everyone!
mmm042 - The donations to the Ice Age Trail Alliance is such a good idea too. If you're in the US there's always the incomparable See's Candies! Soooo good!
