There are many warnings about not picking up dogs along the Camino. They frequently belong to loving owners who are distraught when their beloved pet disappears for a period of time with a pilgrim and then cannot find their way home.
What starts off as a mini adventure for the dog and short term company for the pilgrim can cause heartache for owners. This was a warning given to me on the Primitivo by the owner of a Casa Rural.
