How to get from Barcelona to Porto

Camino Frances St.Jean - Burgos
Hello.

I am thinking about starting a camino from Porto to SDC in September or maybe the beginning of October. I am looking for a cost effective route from my home in Newcastle upon Tyne to Porto to begin the walk. I can get a cheap flight from NCL to Barcelona, and am wondering if it is possible to travel by bus from BCN to Porto. I have experience of using long distance bus travel from Barcelona in the past and found it economical and comfortable having traveled to Pamplona on an earlier camino and back from Burgos.

Can anyone advise me on this matter please?

Many thanks.

Many thanks. I have found out useful information there. I can also get an Alsa Autocar direct from London, but it takes 34 hours. Still - it is quite simple and will deliver me to where I need to be without complex arrangements in a strange country where I do not speak the language.

I appreciate your help.

At the moment both Easyjet and Jet2 show September flights from NCL to Faro. Okay it's not much closer then Barcelona.

If you're intent on going to Barcelona I'd fly to Porto. Skyscanner shows Ryanair flights to Port starting at £30. I can't imagine the bus will be cheaper.

Remind booking ALSa busses they do not accept foreign creditcards as we found out two weeks ago when we wanted to book the bus back to Porto from Santago after finishing our caminho Portuges.
After long searching at their website we found out we could pay by paypal. But who knows his password of paypal ? We did not.. The tourist info in Santiago helped us out and found out that 60+ gets discount. (Tercera idade they call it if you are over 60) if you call ALSA in Spain nobody speaks english ! Bad service..the bus itself and the journey was in time and okay !

Hi
Easy jet fly from Liverpool UK to Porto.
I fly from BCN to Porto to start moving my legs again towards to Santiago 16 Sept.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
I live a couple hours south of Bordeaux and found a Ryanair flight from Bordeaux to Porto for next to nothing, about 50 euros. I leave in 2 weeks, so I will take the train up to Bordeaux on 6 July and catch my afternoon flight and be in Porto before sunset. No buses=no hassles and just a 2 hour flight.
