What an alluring title!
I read this very entertaining book some time ago. Clearly, its historical context is very different to today’s Camino. However, when walking the Camino Frances in 2011 I did come across a Frenchman who was walking with his donkey. His main problem, I recall, was that he was barred from taking his donkey into most towns and villages.
 
I am sure my ex was a reincarnation of Modestine. Female, Stubborn, Manipulative, beautiful and furry ears.

Tis a good book!
