I fly tomorrow and start walking on Tuesday from SJPdP. I have done my final packing and my pack weighs 7kg/15lbs. Some of that weight is electrolyte mix, 10 Clif bars, and a month's worth of specialized vitamins. All of this will dwindle so I think that I'll make it down to 6 kg a week or so into the walk.
I flit between feelings of keen anticipation to deep trepidation from one moment to the next. My hope is that this will calm as soon as I start walking.

Thank you, Ivar and Camino veterans, for the wealth of information you have all made available via this forum. This Camino novice feels very grateful.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
It's only one step at a time, I believe about a million to reach Santiago. You will be there before you know it and will be like the rest of us longing to do it again.
Buen Camino.

I think Orrison is fully booked on the day I start out from SJPDP. This makes my first day really challenging as there is so little accommodation on this first leg to break the journey to Roncesvalles. Any advice?

Take the Valcarlos route instead of the Napoleon. At least that is what I've read. No first hand experience.... yet!

I dig those Clif bars. Gotta have em in my pack.
cheers and ultreia

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Ah, the Gulp! moment! keen anticipation is good, deep trepidation is good - both normal ... you cannot predict at all what will happen next, you are throwing yourself off a cliff with the belief that it will be a safe landing and the experience on the way down will be brilliant - both true!

Enjoy!!!

Buen Camino!!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I was very nervous last year, but five days in I started to feel comfortable, two weeks in you could throw anything at me and as long as I ducked it was fine.

Buen Camino.
