Last Questions for Coastal Route - May 2016

Hi Guys,

First of all I would like to thank everyone for making this forum such a great tool for planning THE walk.

Almost D-day to start the coastal route from Porto to Santiago!!!
I do have a few LAST questions (After this I promise I will let go and just see where the camino brings me
These are my stages (limted time):
Vila Do Conde - Esposende (25km)
Esposende - Viano Do Costelo (22km)
Viano Do Costelo - La Guarda (32km)
La Guarda - Ramallosa (37km)
Ramallosa - Redondela (37km)
Redondela - Pontevedra (18km)
Pontevedra - O Pino (32km)
O Pino - Santiago (35km)

- anyone some tips regarding my walking schedule from above?

- I checked the weather and it seems like I'm going to have a lot of rainy days (almost every day)
Honestly this discouraged me a little.. has anyone walked the most of his camino in the rain? Any tips?

- I read that the traditional coastal route has a lot of "cobblestones" and that there is another coastal route that has less, does anyone know which route this is? I have the John Brierley maps...

More 2024 Camino Guides available
The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Glad you are stopping at Viana do Castelo which is a very nice seaside town with a pilgrim albergue, S. João da Cruz dos Caminhos. However if you are searching for private accommodation, consider the Hotel/Residencial Laranjeira, rua Candido dos Reis 45. It a charming newly furnished small place with a very good dining room. Just before Christmas 2014 a double room with patio, private bath and delicious breakfast was 45 euros. Their daily lunch was less than 15 euros. Quite a bargain!

Another even cheaper place for food is CasaPrimavera/Soares
rua Gois Pinto, 57. Huge portions of delicious fresh fish

We walked partly in the rain between A Guarda and Baiona. Dress in layers and a good poncho and cover for your pack.

Forget the albergue in Redondela and walk on to Cessantes three kms further on where is the Refúxio de la Jérezana. Far better. Maria the lady owner can cook you a nice diner. The refúxio is well waymarked on the caminho. At a crossing with a big national road , the N550, do not cross but turn right and after 100 meters at the right is the refúxio.
