Late April from SJPdP

Well the flights are booked for my wife and I to Bordeaux on Sunday 22nd April arriving at about 2 pm. Now I realise there will be a reduced train service to Bayonne and St Jean. The idea I have come up with is train to Bayonne and stop for the night and then the first train to St Jean Monday morning. I have decided to try to book into Orisson on the Monday night to save our legs the next morning. We are both in our 60's (68 & 64) but are quite fit and have been training for several months. We have been doing our best for the world economy by spending huge amounts of money on the best boots and clothing we could afford, trying it out it really seems we have made a good investment.

I have been an avid reader of the forum for several months now and am amazed at the tips I have been able to pick up, so a big 'Thank you' for that. We are going to take each day as it comes and "eat when we're hungry and stop when we're tired" and hopefully make it SdC and then on to Finisterre and Muxia.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi Trumpy!

As you're flying to Bordeaux I assume you're just coming from Europe so jet lag won't be a problem?

I don't know the train times from there to Bayonne, but if you could make the last train to SJPP from Bayonne that night it would be great. You'd already have your pilgrim passport be and ready to start the next morning. You'll also probably meet a few other peregrinos on the train or in the hostal and have a nice, nervous, expectant evening! With pasta.

Buen Camino!

Hi Ron,
Sounds like a good plan to me. When you say "try to book into Orisson on the Monday night", I assume you mean before you arrive. Here is their web address http://www.refuge-orisson.com/ in case you don't have it. Yes, I think you'll find having purchased good gear, it will be money well spent. Also April should be a great time to walk, my wife & I started in April 2009 and will be walking again (this time from Lourdes) a week after you start. Hope you both have a wonderful walk.
Buen Camino.
