Time of past OR future Camino
Beginning of CF (2016)
Thank you all for the valuable information on walking the Camino, both in general and for my unusual circumstances. The last few weeks included days when it looked like walking part of the Camino would become just a dream, but I got the final go-ahead from my doctors last week (promising to be careful and stop if necessary) and booked flights/trains for myself and my daughter. While I realize most people plan ahead more, that is trickier for me and I can't risk waiting till spring. Time to get excited!

After much thought, I decided to walk the beginning of the Camino Frances from StJPP via Valcarlos. There were so many options that sounded wonderful -- I almost opted for the Camino Ingles due to Irish/English heritage, Finisterre/Muxia because I love the ocean and the idea of "the end of the world", the Via Podiensis because I speak French and it looked like walking through a fairy tale, etc. -- but this is the one that ultimately spoke to me for this particular trip. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to come back someday. I kind of like that idea, even though unlikely. My thanks again to all of you.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
How lovely! I wish you a buen Camino

Have a Buen Camino and enjoy every step and yes, take a rest before it becomes necessary, SY

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Based on your original post it must be down to days before you begin your adventure. Clearly your Camino has already begun but I wish you the best.
Buen Camino

Thank you! I leave this weekend for France and start walking in St-Jean-Pied-de-Port on Wednesday. Looks like weather will be perfect...not too hot for me (a definite concern and the primary reason for October walk), some clouds to provide a break from sun, and not much rain. We are excited

Buen Camino CalSue, and I hope every day is pleasant weather! Did you know a couple of days ago San Luis Obispo was the hottest place on the planet? Just goes to prove how tough Californians are.
