Thank you all for the valuable information on walking the Camino, both in general and for my unusual circumstances. The last few weeks included days when it looked like walking part of the Camino would become just a dream, but I got the final go-ahead from my doctors last week (promising to be careful and stop if necessary) and booked flights/trains for myself and my daughter. While I realize most people plan ahead more, that is trickier for me and I can't risk waiting till spring. Time to get excited!
After much thought, I decided to walk the beginning of the Camino Frances from StJPP via Valcarlos. There were so many options that sounded wonderful -- I almost opted for the Camino Ingles due to Irish/English heritage, Finisterre/Muxia because I love the ocean and the idea of "the end of the world", the Via Podiensis because I speak French and it looked like walking through a fairy tale, etc. -- but this is the one that ultimately spoke to me for this particular trip. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to come back someday. I kind of like that idea, even though unlikely. My thanks again to all of you.
