London to Sarria, but not via Santiago

Hi

I'm walking the Sarria>Santiago leg in October, and wanted to know the cheapest/easiest to get from London to Sarria. However, I don't want to fly into Santiago, as this seems to defeat the point somewhat.

I know there are several airports in the region that I could fly into , and I guess i'd then get a train or bus to Sarria, but hoped that someone might have some experience in this area.

Many thanks in advance

James

Hi,
One possible option is that you could fly with "Vueling" Company from London to A Coruña. Then from A Coruña by bus to Lugo or Sarria.
Gook luck with The Way.

I don't want to fly into Santiago, as this seems to defeat the point somewhat.

It doesn't have to be like that because Santiago airport Lavacolla is east of the city itself and you kind of don't enter Santiago. Also the bus from Santiago to Sarria stops at the airport! But on the other hand you will most probably see parts of CF on that ride...

Maybe A Coruna better fits your demands. It's only about 125km distance (quite the same as from SdC). Another option is (again with Vueling for about 100€ in October) from London to Oviedo/Asturias. But Oviedo is 250km from Sarria so the bus ride will take more time.

Ultreia!

Hello james,

Good news for you. Vueling airlines is currently having a sale for travelling from 14/10/2013 to 26/03/2014. You must buy your ticket between 1/10/2013 to 8/10/2013 and purchases to be made 12 days in advance. Prices start at €34.99 one way. Vueling flies from london heathrow to a coruna airport. You can take the bus from the airport to the bus station for €1.47 and then either take the bus which costs from€6 to santiago. You can also take the train for around the same price.

I believe you can also travel directly to sarria from a coruna without going to santiago.

Good luck and buen camino.

Your best option is to fly to Santiago (SCQ); its the closest. From there you can catch a bus direct (without first going to Santiago bus station) to Lugo and then transfer to a bus to Sarria. See SCQ, Empresa Friere, and Sarria Transportation links.

The airport at A Corona might be a better option ... if you can get a flight there from London.

Sarria is connected to Spain by train. That means you can access it from any airport in Spain. The question is whether its more convenient to do so.

I have not found direct connections to Sarria from Santiago. Sarria is not a transportation hub.

Of interest is the link showing a diagram of the train connection Sarria to Santiago.
