Looking for Pics of the Museo Del Chocolate in Astorga

Hi Folks. A friend of mine is an editor at Atlas/Gastro Obscura. Recently they posted an article with a list of museums around the world that are dedicated to a specific food (did you know that there is a Baked Bean Museum in Wales?). When I pointed out that they missed the Museo Del Chocolate in Astorga, she said they'd love to add it if I could provide pics (that they can legally use). I don't have any good pics, but if you do and wouldn't mind Gastro Obscura including them in the article, please send them to me and I'll pass them on. (They will give you photo credit, let me know if you'd like your name included). If you need examples of the kinds of pics they can use, just look at the article. Could use a few: front of building, some exhibits, that sort of thing. Best no identifiable people in the pics.

BTW, If you haven't spend any time with Atlas/Gastro Obscura, I highly recommend it. I've found some amazing, fun, things to visit, that are easy to miss...some, of course, along the Camino!

Just post here (or message me through the forum if you don't want to post). Thanks!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I'm planning to give myself a "rest-and-sightsee" day in Astorga when I walk thru in late September.... And I would very much like to know if a visit to the Chocolate Museum is worth a portion of that day! Opinions, please...?!

I would say YES. I enjoyed it, even though (at the time...2016) the exhibits did not have English translations. I think you could try to read them with Google Translate. BTW, free chocolate at the end!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
i doubt it's what you're looking for, but this photo was taken inside the museum - small display on motivational signage at the factory back in the day. Feel free to use if you/they want to.

Atalas Obscura is awesome btw.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I don't know if this will be helpful, but I was in Astorga in 2014 when they closed the old Museum while they were opening the new one. I was with a girl from Germany who was quite upset that we could not get in. So, this a staged picture after she calmed down. Again, don't know if it is helpful for what you want, just think it's pretty cute. Can't wait to go back and get inside the new one. Peace

Do you have a good pic of the front of the building? That would be great. Margaret already provided two fantastic interior pics.

In fact, the article already includes that chocolate museum, but not the one in Astorga. That's why I contacted my friend. Astorga deserves some love too!

Sorry to be late to the party, but I live in Astorga so if you need any other pictures let me know and I’ll try to help. But it looks like you got what you need.
Thanks so much, Oldbikerider. Lucky you to live in Astorga! My friend told me she has enough now...people have posted some really nice ones. I'll post the article when she adds the Museo Del Chocolate to it.

I visited a chocolate factory & museum in Havana, Cuba, in 2010.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
What I liked most about the museum was the explanation of why the chocolate industry became established in Astorga. A local churchman (Bishop?), declared that by eating chocolate, one did not break the fast. So it was possible to fast AND eat chocolate. Perfect reason to establish an industry that at one time comprised, if I remember correctly, 40 chocolate factories!

I now fast a LOT!
