Love on Camino

Time of past OR future Camino
First one in 2005 from Moissac, France.
Hi all, some years ago I met a young American couple - Texicans - on Camino. They were really sweet.
Their story was that they were childhood sweethearts, grew up in a safe and privileged environment, even went to college together.
They were going to get married but the boy (at my age they were grown children to me) was concerned that nothing 'bad' had ever happened in their lives so how would they be when a crisis came.
So they decided to walk the Camino, to see how they got on out of their comfort zone. They loved it all, supported each other, and when they went back home they married.
When I met them they were doing the Camino again, as their Honeymoon. Bless ❤ .

I wondered if any had Camino romance/love anecdotes they would like to share. .... ??

I met a young girl from Texas, mid twenties, in SJPP. We walked for about a week on the Frances. A few days after we parted she met a young man from Sweden. They walked the rest of the Way to Santiago together. The Camino provided. They fell in love. A few years later they walked it again and shot their engagement photos in Muxia. They’ve been happily married for 2 years!
Throughout the Camino I met up with them several times and we became lifelong friends. It’s been wonderful following their love story.

My walking companion on my first Camino met a German girl in Tricastela. After further courtship and travel, they have now been married 10 years.
If memory serves, the couple running gite at St Privat dAllier met on a camino and later married.
Yes, there probably scores of love stories on the camino.

I remember catching up to this young couple outside of

I came upon a young couple outside of Leon. They had just begun their Camino. They were walking their path holding hands. Days later and two hours out from Samos I noticed ahead a couple holding hands. When I caught up to them I recognized they were the same couple I had met outside Leon. I told them I immediately recognized them because they had been the only pilgrims I encountered holding hands. I received two huge smiles.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
In an albergue I shared a room with two pilgrims, each from a different part of the world... we crossed paths a number of times along the path, and became friends. Six months later they were engaged, and two years later they were married. The bride asked if she might commission me to do a painting as a wedding gift for her husband to be... I painted this as a gift to them both, and as a further expression of the wonder that is my Camino.

How very lovely!

When I went on my Camino in 2012 it was to find a new direction, as I felt quite stagnant in my comfortable life. I hadn't dated for 7 years and had accepted that love just wasn't my forte. I met lots of men on the Camino obviously looking for romance, but I easily passed them by. Then came the day I met Carlos. We'd been bumping into each other numerous times, but never spoke as I had no Spanish and he had no English. Finally, in Itero de la Vega, he found me on the terrace with a glass of wine and asked me if 'solo hablas ingles?' I answered, 'Ingles y frances.' Turned out, he spoke French too and we didn't stop talking all night!

A couple of days later we bumped into each other in the morning (well, to be fair he was waiting for me) and we walked together that day. We had so much in common, it blew me away. He was the easiest person to talk to, like an old friend and very non-threatening, no sexual vibes to ward off. We lost each other the next day, but then found each other again, then lost each other, then found each other. Finally, as I was writing him my email in a note in case we lost each other again and touch forever, I recognised the feelings I had: I had fallen for him. After many obstacles, including a year of long distance, we finally married in 2014. We'll be celebrating our 7th anniversary this Monday.
