Luggage Pick up in October

Porto to Santiago De Compostela
Hi Ivar,

On your website it says contact you for pick-up in October. We plan to arrive Santiago on either the 4 or to the 5 of October.

Not sure how we should do this -- sending our luggages to you. Once you receive our luggages you will contact us and we can establish pick-up time then?
Please advise.

Thanks.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
The best would be to send it, then 3-4 days before you arrive in Santiago, email me (ivar@casaivar.com) and we can agree on a time for pickup. Normally I am there weekdays from 10 to about 13, but best to confirm.

The reason to wait until 3-4 days before to contact me is that by then, your arrival date is more certain. 3-4 weeks in advance it is much more difficult to get the date right.

Thanks!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
This reply may be off point. We have done 3 Caminos. We sent our luggage "Bags and Go" service - expensive, but reliable. They will hold as long as possible, as needed, at a location for you - delivers on time. But, again, expensive! The most inexpensive way was to send it via mail - Correo Spanish mail service. So, when we did it on other 'LONG' Caminos like del Norte or frances, we sent the luggage to an intermediate point since it can only be held for 30 days. To be clear, for instance, on the Camino de frances, if we start in St Pied de Port, we ship the luggage to Leon - easily there in 30 days. Then, ship the luggage from Leon to Santiago. Really inexpensive and reliable. Hope this helps someone. Buen Camino!

First of all, you can pay extra for up to 45 days storage at the main post office in Santiago when you use Paq Peregrino from Correos.

Secondly, you can mail to Casa Ivar, and @ivar will hold it for up to 60 days.

Thirdly, if you are starting from SJPDP you can use the service of Express Bourricot which has no time limit for storage in Santiago, and is the easiest and most convenient way to send and pick up your luggage.

All great information. Thanks!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I found this post helpful also regarding transport from Biarritz to SJPDP. Thanks!
