Medieval cathedrals were actually quite colorful

Not sure if this is the proper forum... Anyway, when walking the Camino and seeing an old medieval cathedral, it would be interesting to have this in mind:

When you come to the Picardy region of northern France together we can view this magical vision recreated through contemporary computer controlled lights at both Amiens and Reims cathedrals. Every summer both provide splendid son et lumiere viewings! Do visit.

Chartres has what must be the most beautiful and elaborate version of this kind of light display every spring/summer. For a few days they do many of the other historic sites and bridges as well. Very lovely, although I was afraid it would be a bit Disney. It isn't, at all.

Of course, they're also restoring the medieval painted and marbled finishes to the interior of the cathedral, and that's far more controversial.
