Hola, Laurie,I think I read somewhere, but now can't find it, that the albergue in Montserrat has limited hours in which you can get the key. I'd appreciate any information from those who have stayed there. Do you know if a two-night stay is possible?
Buen camino, Laurie
It was one of our options for last year - but obviously we ended up not doing it. It's still on my wishlist - I want to hear those boys sing and also get to Barcelona.I didn´t know you were thinking of walking this Camino! Thanks so much, Rachael. Buen camino, Laurie
I am not going to Monserrat this time but it is a fantastic place,a really good place for contemplation and prayerIt was one of our options for last year - but obviously we ended up not doing it. It's still on my wishlist - I want to hear those boys sing and also get to Barcelona.
Muchas gracias Laurie. You make us happy. We are happily waiting the day to go to Montserrat.
Thanks. I will try to do that. By the way, I wonder their email address, ccpastoral@santuari-montserrat.com is still working or not. Actually I sent email to them yesterday, but I didn't get back yet. I will wait few more days. Mahalo!(This means 'Thank you' in Hawaiiana. We live in Hawaii^^)
Thanks very much for this info. Very useful!Reply directly from the monastery on 16 April 2014:
We normally provide accommodation for pilgrims in their way to Santiago de Compostela. They spend the night in a building called “Nostra Senyora”. The price for them is free. In the case you are not pilgrims going to Santiago, you should pay 10 € per night.
The rooms are very simple. They only have 2 or 3 bunk beds and small wardrobes, and obviously toilets and showers. Bed linens and towels are not provided. You have to come with your own sleeping bags and towels.
To collect the keys, you should come to our office, the Pastoral Coordination Centre. Our timetable is as follows: from 9,30 a.m. to 13,00 p.m. in the morning and from 16,00 p.m. to 18,00 p.m. in the afternoon. We open every day of the week, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. If you wouldn’t be able to come within the office timetable, we could leave you the keys at the reception of the Hotel Abat Cisneros. They are opened the 24 hours, and the hostel for pilgrims is just 1 minute walking from the Hotel. You cannot get lost. Our telephone number is: 93 877 77 66
So no details about two nights - but I imagine it would be possible. You could contact them at
ccpastoral@santuari-montserrat.com
