You are both in for a wonderful experience. There are over thirty different 'caminos' throughout Europe leading to Santiago de Compostels [SdC]. The best known is the 'French' camino and I expect that is the one you'll be walking.
You will find the answers to all your questions on this forum - apart, maybe, from 'what is the meaning of life'!
If you have any questions ... just ask. We tend to be a very friendly group, with great experience from which you can draw.
